Rhema Care in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Nigeria implemented the SLOPE project on “Strengthening Local Capacity for Participatory Vulnerability Analysis (PVA) and Peace Building in four (4) displaced Post-Conflict Communities from 3 LGAs in Cross River State of Nigeria”. The goal of the project was to promote durable solutions in displaced conflict communities in Cross River State through the reduction of vulnerabilities of target communities to conflicts thereby reducing the incidence of conflict-induced displacement within the state. The project targeted 4 communities in 3 LGs viz. Usumutong and Ediba in Abi LGA, Onyadama in Obubra LGA and Inyima community in Yakurr LGA. As a step towards achieving the objectives of the project , Rhema Care implemented a number of activities including engagement with stakeholder and formation of Project Management Committee (PMC), holding of PMC meetings, selection of project target communities, advocacy visits to project community leaders & mobilization of these communities, organization of 5-day participatory vulnerability analysis (PVA) and peace-building training workshop including 2-day practical participatory community vulnerability analysis process & development of community action plans using a wide range of participatory conflict analysis tools, holding of a one-day state-level stakeholders’ advocacy meeting and the formation/ inauguration of a multi-sectorial peace-building committee.
